This design is an integral part of the Triple Sink Mafia brand, born from the visceral feeling of concluding a grueling 10-hour shift in a restaurant kitchen and savoring that first, well-deserved beer. It encapsulates the essence of exhaustion and the thirst for respite. Drawing inspiration from the hardcore and metal scenes, this gritty design, executed in white ink on black fabric, resonates with the back of house: the tireless labor and dedication that restaurant workers endure day in and day out.

LONG DAZE
TALL CANS

Beginning digitally in Procreate and refined in Adobe Illustrator, the design captured the essence of exhaustion and anticipation. However, the true irony emerged in the production process itself. Burning the design onto a silk screen and hand-printing each shirt became a labor-intensive endeavor, reflecting the very essence of the design—exhaustion, dedication, and the reward of finally savoring that well-earned beer. I tried to capture and convey the authentic emotions of an experience, resonating deeply with those who have walked the same path in the restaurant industry.

CREATIVE PROCESS

At its core, "Long Daze, Tall Cans" is a visual representation of the dichotomy between feeling utterly depleted after a demanding workday and the singular focus on that refreshing beer, the ultimate reward for the toils endured. The skull embodies the sensation of exhaustion, while the beer can, forcefully lodged into its eye socket, symbolizes the singular preoccupation with that first sip of beer after a relentless shift. It's a visceral representation of the exhaustion and anticipation that all hospitality workers can resonate with.
I feel that the design's aesthetic deepens the connection to the emotions it encapsulates.
